The Beginning Farmer Bill passed in Ohio earlier this year will provide income tax credits for transfers of agricultural assets to certified beginning farmers. The Ohio Department of Agriculture is currently developing procedures that will implement the new law in 2023. A new law in Ohio effrective July 21 will affect landlords of farm crop leasing arrangements that fail to address lease termination. For those leases--which are typically verbal leases--a landlord who wants to terminate the lease must provide a written notice of termination by September 1, according to the new law.
